dear twelve-year-old me,

depression is an eating thing / it’ll turn you into somebody you don’t want to be / it is not soft or lovely / or poetic / there is nothing beautiful about the pain that comes with this / but please do not fall for what they say / when they tell you that pain is the only thing you’re supposed to feel / please do not fall for what they say / when they tell you that sadness is all there is

you’ll make it
