Crocodile Browser: How Dreams Connect the World

In our world today, most people spend a lot of time browsing online for the latest news or connecting with people via social media. However, there are moments when the web browser takes super long to load. In our age of instant gratification, this can be frustrating, right?

This is the reason that 13- and 15-year-old Nigerian brothers Anesi and Osine Ikhianosime created Crocodile Browser Lite — a browser for low-end mobile phones that is now available for download in the Google Play store.

Because of the slow-paced loading on their phones, the boys did not want to wait for Google Chrome anymore; and, instead of expressing their annoyance about it, they invented their own browser. Thus, Crocodile Browser Lite was born.

Anesi and Osine study at Greensprings School in Anthony Campus, Lagos. Both brothers enjoy soccer, love their friends, and, of course, love coding. Their parents believe that education and technology are essential to everyone’s life, so Anesi and Osine were brought up having great ambitions. The brothers’ mother said that Anesi and Osine “were able to use the computer before they know how to read and have always been fascinated with technology, creating, building and solving problems.”

When Anesi and Osine were 7 and 9 years old, they already had a clear vision of starting their own technology company. They chose to name their company “Doors,” influenced by Microsoft Windows. But soon after, the boys found out that “Doors” already existed, so it was changed to “Blu Doors.”

At the ages of 12 and 14, Anesi and Osine learned how to code by themselves with the support of their school. “I learnt to code by myself. I started in 2013, I used sites like Code Academy, Code Avenger and books like ‘Android for Game Development’ and ‘Games for Dummies,’” Anesi said.

For college, the young inventors plan to attend MIT in the US because they believe that the school has the opportunities, resources, and access to technologies that are necessary in attaining the future that they dream of.

Although Crocodile Browser Lite was initially Anesi and Osine’s solution to their own need for a faster browsing experience, their creation somehow became a gift to those who do not own high-end smart phones. It’s amazing how two teens built something wonderful out of great passion and creativity. Anesi and Osine’s story truly shows that when you do your best to achieve your dream, you can make a difference in the world and contribute to the benefit of all.
