Finally Free by Aarushi Marde

Dew drops rested on flowers

As the cool mist hung in the sky

The foggy morning dawned ahead

The break of the day was still shy

.

Drifting through the lush green forest with

The new sunlight warming my bare feet

I could hear the familiarly sweet music

Of the Lorikeet’s morning tweet

.

The rustling and swishing of the trees

With its tall over hanging branches

While the leaves pirouetted to the ground

Leading a trail for a world full of chances

.

The familiar Nerieda Lake glistened in the distance

With waters as blue as the Caspian sea

The emerald grass sparkled in the sunbeams

Reaching out and calling me

.

The snow white tulips danced in the breeze

As wind swayed alongside me

I was a dove who had found its wing

And now I was finally free

.
