Litsy: Socializing Book Nerds

One of the best things about being an avid reader is having a community to share in that passion. There is nothing like being in the company of like-minded people and discussing what you love. I think anyone with that outlet will agree with me; however, not everyone is so lucky. There are people who have yet to find their like-minded people. And for those of you who find yourself in that unfortunate group, I present the solution.qWcijJ_p

Litsy is a brand new social media app strictly for books. It’s kind of like a more personable Goodreads. No longer will you be a slave to #bookstagram. Just scroll through your Litsy feed for fun, insightful pictures and reviews!

Unlike other reading catalog sites, Litsy doesn’t use algorithms to recommend your next book because you know yourself better than any computer, and you’ll probably get the best recommendations from other readers instead. There are some things numbers can’t generate, but a book-lover understands a fellow book-lover.

What I love about the review process is its simplicity. Rather than stars or what-have-you, you choose from Like, So-So, Pan, or Bail. Personally, I can agonize (and believe me, I have) over whether to give a book a 3 or 4 star rating, but with this system, it’s pretty straightforward. And, of course, for those who want to go for absolute accuracy, you can always include your star rating in your comment.

Tapping into my competitive nature, this is sure to increase my page count the longer I use the app.

And, of course, my favorite part of the app is that I finally have an excuse to take cute pictures of my beautiful books without bogging down the Instagram feed of my uninterested followers. I know some of you can relate.

So, give Litsy a try! And while you’re there, look up Germ Magazine and follow us for our reviews and for quotes we love. We want to see what you’re reading, too!
