For those of you in high school, I’m sure you’ve seen hundreds of signs and shirts advertising your school’s Key Club, but what is Key Club, really? Many people just dismiss it because they claim it’s a waste of time, but in reality, it has limitless benefits. Key Club gives you the opportunity to make great friends, boost your college resume, and do something good for your community.

First off, the friends you make in Key Club are not your ordinary friends. Your fellow key-clubbers are dedicated to improving the community, are positive influences to be around, and are the kind of people who are going to be in your life forever. Just like you, these kids want to make a change in the world, and they are making the conscious, positive choice to spend their time bettering themselves and the world around them. While Key Club may seem like an unlikely place to make friends, once you realize how similar you are to the other club members, friendships just blossom.

Another benefit of joining Key Club (besides the fact that it looks great on a college resume) is the community involvement. You can volunteer to work at soup kitchens, community events, fundraisers, etc. There are endless ways you can help out the community, so it’s virtually impossible to get bored with all of your options. Not only are you helping people out more than you realize, but you also get to meet tons of people who live close by. It’s a great way to get out there and help your neighbors.

Overall, there are endless benefits of joining your school’s Key Club, and you’re not the only one who gets to reap the rewards. Key Club is beneficial to you and it is beneficial to your community, and if that isn’t reason enough to join, then I don’t know what is.
