It’s not a bird. It’s not a plane. It’s CBS’s first look at their new superhero show: Supergirl. Starring Melissa Benoist as the titular heroine, Supergirl follows the story of Kara Zor-El (Superman’s cousin), who also escaped the destruction of Krypton and fled to Earth. Having been adopted into an earth family and having adapted Earthen ways, Kara just wants to be normal — until a disaster prompts her to reveal her powers to the world. The show officially premieres in the fall, but CBS has released this extended look into DC comic’s lady-answer to Superman. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really excited because, not only does Jeremy Jordan (my ultimate Broadway crush) have a major role, but it looks like it could be really empowering for girls — if done correctly. You’d better not disappoint me, CBS!
