This movie looks like it is going to be so sad and so powerful and so amazing. I love dance movies, but I have a feeling this one will be like no other dance movie I’ve seen before. Based on a true story, this movie follows Iranian youths who risk their lives to dance in a country where it is illegal. It encompasses the truth that dance at its core is a raw combination of freedom and expression.

These dancers aren’t wanting to dance, they need to dance. It’s part of who they are, and they are no longer willing to compromise that part of themselves.

When we have things so readily given to us, we begin to take them from granted. Watching this movie will definitely shed a new light on dancing for me. I don’t know what it’s like for dance to be forbidden, a secret art form; it makes it even more beautiful. It will be amazing to see these characters discover dance and make it their own.
