I am one of those people that can spend hours in the kitchen working on the same recipe. I absolutely love to cook, but a recipe that takes hours to concoct leaves behind a mess that is exhausting to even look at. This DIY Cake in a Cup recipe is perfect for people that hate cleaning the kitchen because it creates a minimal mess. It also takes a short time to cook, so you can spend more time decorating and eating it. Cake snobs, beware! This is not as perfect as that recipe you spent your whole weekend making; but, have an open mind! For a cake that dirties about two dishes and is baked in the microwave, it is pretty good.

Ingredients:

1 box of chocolate (or any other flavor) cake mix

1 box of vanilla cake mix

1 microwavable bowl

1 resealable container

frosting or whipped cream

sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Put both cake mixes in your reasealable container.
  2. Seal and shake until the mixes are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Take two parts cake mix and one part water, and put it in your microwaveable container. I found that it cooks best in a cup as the title suggests.
  4. Microwave until a knife that’s inserted in the center comes out clean. This time can range anywhere from one and a half to five minutes.
  5. Let cool.
  6. Frost the cake. I used whipped cream instead of frosting because I think that store bought frosting is disgusting, and I was to lazy to make my own. Also, you cannot really go wrong with whipped cream.
  7. Add sprinkles if desired.
  8. Enjoy!
