Yesterday, Sony Pictures Entertainment decided to pull the plug on the release of their latest film, The Interview. In this film, two reporters — played by James Franco and Seth Rogen — are tasked with assassinating the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un. Not surprisingly, the North Korean government was disapproving of the film’s plot. The FBI has reported that North Korea is tied to the group of hackers who, late last month, released a trove of Sony’s sensitive information and threatened terroristic attacks on any theaters that choose to screen the film. The FBI has also reported that there is no evidence that any such attacks on theaters would happen. With Sony’s announcement to cancel the film, the company is facing criticism for giving in to seemingly empty threats.
